Hi

Brought home my 8 week old whippet pup yesterday, She is on Chudleys puppy food but I cant get it locally so will have to change her on to something else. No hurry as i have a supply from breeder to keep us going for a couple of weeks.

I would like advice on what type of food is best for growing whippets. I feed raw to my other dog but she didnt start that until was a adult so not sure about a puppy. Ideally I would like to do 50/50.  Unfortunatly my local shops only sell pedigree chum puppy food, tinned and dried and I would like to avoid it if poss

I am more than happy to make my own food for them and freeze it.

Did the breeder not suggest an alternative?

Hi Wendy
It will be interesting to see what other whippet owners suggest.
I raised my last RR pups on a raw diet from 8 weeks on.  Until that age, I gave them a mixture of complete and raw.  Then I switched all my dogs over to raw.  I must admit I was a bit nervous about raising pups on raw at the start, but it was fine.  I gave them a varied diet include raw meaty bones and they grew steadily.  I really think they grew more slowly, and I think that is a good thing.  At one point I thought they were going to be really small, but they got to a decent size in the end.

Hi

No she fed Chudleys to all her dogs and really had no idea about anything else.
