Hi
I have just read Ziggi's write up in Our Dogs and was wondering if some one could explain a few of the bits in the paragraph as I am new to showing and don't quite know what it all means.
Thanks.
If you would like to help me I can PM you as I don't want to look like I am showing off.
Best Wishes Thanks
Anna
Feel free to pm if you want, Anna

Or show off if you want - I'm sure most of us would be thrilled for you and very happy to read all the lovely things the judge has said! :-)

Absolutely, that was my thought too! :D

yeah..c'mon Anna, we know you've worked hard for this... you wont be showing off!! but..even if you were, you'd be well within your right!! :D

I've never been good at saying things i have done but hear goes.
Nussey's Paddockend Snow Nymph.
Charming young lady with the most beautiful of heads. In the main, architecturally sound, though not the rib or movement of 1. Lovely for size, bone and overall type. Moved well and I'm sure the benefit of further ringcraft will see this exhibit's success rate increase.
Sorry

That's a very nice critique. How old is she? Ribs spring with maturity, and movement settles and becomes more co-ordinated.
Lovely :)

She is 2
Basically, as you have a young bitch, I wouldn't worry too much about the 'not the rib or movement of 1' bit. She will mature and develop as she ages. Her movement will also get better the more you practice and actually show her. How many were in the class, and how many did she beat? That's the main thing to remember. It sounds like the judge liked your bitch, just preferred something in the other one. Was it older? That can make a big difference. :D It all comes down to experience. Keep up the good work. You obviously did something right :) Well done.
Will have to keep an eye out at Champ shows now, seeing as I'm on Gundog days too ;) :)

I was actually told by the steward that the judge wanted me to know that if I had held her head different (ie held rather than just with the lead) she would have put her first.
It was a inside hall and Ziggi's movement is way better in an outside ring.
Thanks for all your lovely comments everyone
Best Wishes

There is nothing you can do about rib, it is the Judges own opinion of correct rib, it could be spring of rib or it could be depth of rib or possibly other points, can you picture the dog that beat you? However movement as said before comes with practice, 5 mins daily will help, plus video yourself at different speeds of movement too to see what looks best. As for head holding etc, watch what the best handlers do in your breed when showing and work with a mirror at home to emulate them :-)

I'd be really pleased with that :D

Well done Anna and Ziggi, you must be very proud.
And there is nothing wrong with a bit of showing off, we all know how hard you have worked to get there. :-D

That sounds like a great write up, well done!! It's always nice when the judge says they liked your dog, and when they like them so much that they tell the steward to tell you exactly what you need to improve on! I agree spring of ribs will come with maturity, and movement as you both improve your ringcraft. It'll be a First at the next one then! :-)

Well she got chucked at leeds. And all people who had seen her before said she looked better than she has done before. oh well.
Always a next time
Best wishes and thanks for all the lovely comments
