My youngest Flatcoat, Scout, is just recovering from a mild bout of Pancreatitis.
I was so worried about him as these days, he never refuses a meal.
It was the last thing I thought of when he became depressed and went off his food on Monday.  A visit to the vets and BTs confirmed it.

I just can't beleive it, as I already have one who suffers with the condition, although Indys is much more severe, having been hospitalised on a few occasions.

I have always had problems with Scouts digestion, and thinking back, maybe he has always been a bit borderline.
I thought I had finally found a food that I though suited him, but having checked the bag, it is contains 18% fat! This would have pushed him over the edge!!  I told my vet about this and she agreed. She said that they are seeing more and more dogs with Pancreatitis. I suggested that it was the high fat content in most of the current and new completes.
The theory is the more fat, the more palatable the food is?

Scout is much more cheerful this morning and hopefully he has turned the corner and will have no more problems, but you never know...

Indy has a low fat diet (8.5% fat) and is on three small feeds, I may put Scout on the same.
Scout adores Indy, but I never realised he wanted to be like him.  His new new name is the 'Indy Wannabe'!!!!!!! :)

Fat is often sprayed on dry food to make it more palatable.  Many of the so-called premium and high-performance foods have very high level of fats.  You will often hear people raving about how shiney their dogs coats have become - it's the fat does it. (More fats in - more fats out.)

That's just what we thought. 
My lot have always had good coats, even on the lower fat content food, must be the way I keep them!! :) Good food, good exersice and lots & lots of cuddles!!!!!!

Scout is back to his usual naughty self, stealing from the work surfaces, mugging the cat.....
It's surprising how much even a mild attack of pancreatitis takes out of them.  Although he has only lost a little bit of weight, his gets tired quickly.  He's also now on 3 feeds, which he thinks is great!!
