Hi- does anybody know how I should groom my hungarian puli - he is 3 years old - not for showing - his hair is about an inch to an inch and a half. Everything I've read says you only use your fingers so you can make the cords - but as we arent showing we dont need the cords. I just want to be able to get all the grass/seeds/grit out of his fur for him - any advice greatly appreciated.

Probably your dog's breeder is the best person to advice. :)

Oh I see! :) Maybe the breed club can advice? HUNGARIAN PULI CLUB OF GB. Sec Mrs Evans. Tel No: 01544 230789
If he's only a pet and the coat has been left so that you are able to brush it then brush it.
I must admit that I like my breed even pet ones not to be brushed as their coat is part of them especially the cords.

Hello Spanish Water Dog - I was hoping you would see the post knowing that the coats were similar - what do you find is the best way to get the rubbish out - just with your fingers...
Yep, actually you will find at one point when the cords are coming through that it's really therapeutic cording the dog.
My Lastar was really woolly recently and I thought that I was going to have to clip it off but the last couple of days it's starting to seperate. So if the weathers nice this weekend he will go swimming a couple of times and run on the field to dry and hopefully it will start looking something for Leeds Champ. Show. Well I can wish anyway :d
