Does anyone know of a beach in the southeast that you can take your dog with you please?

I don't know where abouts you are in the country but Pilling sands in Lancashire is a great place to take the dogs. It's very secluded and goes for miles. There's always lots of dog walkers around - infact a lot of people meet up for the day there.

Hi Staffie,
The problem you might find with the Southeast is that most of the beaches even the 'dog friendly' ones, are covered by 'By Laws' that restrict dogs during months May-September, they may still be walked on the promenades and must be on a lead during these periods.
:(

 Sorry, didn't see the Southeast bit
Our favourite is St. Mary's Bay near Dymchurch. Dogs are banned from part of the beach in the summer but a huge stretch is dog-friendly all year round (to the left as you look at the sea from the car park). Lovely to go to in the evening and have fish and chips and watch the sun go down.

Is there a particular part of the south east you are interested in as i posted something about Whitstable under a different thread which you could find with the search button.
If you can't find it and East Kent is within your area pm me and I will forward the details to you.

Camber Sands near Rye is a great beach, (although maybe thats got restrictions during May-September? as Huskygal said, I'm not sure? hope not! I fancy a trip there soon). The last time we went there was in March for lots of digging and a very sandy beard (Ollies, not mine!)

Hi staffie,
We found a great little stretch of beach yesterday at Bexhill-on-sea, I saved it into our Sat Nav on the car so I wouldnt forget it. So if your interested let me know and I'll give you the exact address.
Its a stretch that has all the beach huts along it, so there were dogs a plenty..(they did all seem to be small dogs But storm had fun with a pug,JRT,cocker) as the beach huts are all privately owned there seemed to be more acceptance of dogs as people had their whole family &dog (s) with them.
The only problem is its a pebbley beach so no good when its too hot..but we sat on the pebbles by the sea and the shale was cool to the touch, also there was a lovely sea breeze.when the tide is out there is a sandy stretch infront of the pebbles.
HTH :)
stretches without summer months restrictions are hard to find.

My mum lives near Bexhill, and I
think dogs are allowed on the beach at Cooden (the western end of Bexhill) during the summer. It's sandy at low tide there ... :)

Camber sands won't let dogs on it in the Summer unfortunately. Shame, it is a great dog beach, with huge water pools when the tide goes out. We often go in the winter.

I dont know how south east you are, I live in Dorset (Hampshire end) and the weather people cannot make up their minds if we are SW or SE!! ANyway Hengistbury Head in Bournemouth allows dogs all year around. You could look up your Council website as they should have information on dog friendly beaches.
Thanks everyone for your replies.... We are in Berkshire but don't mind the car journey would just be nice to take the dog down the beach but I think it will have to get a bit cooler first or we will have to go late at night

Hi
Goring By sea near Worthing has a dog friendly all year beach, its great, free parking on the road, large green, then beach with towpath if the tide is in, the tide goes out for miles and there is a reasonably priced cafe with nice food if you are staying for ages and forgot the food, (my favourite trick).
My SWD's love it there and we go at least 4 times a week for them to swim and play.
Thanks for rubbing that in. We don't have any beaches where I live. We do have the yucky water park though which my SWD's enjoy :d :d

Hee hee
Yes but at least you can get to all the water training events easily, unlike me stuck down here in the South.
We went yesterday to the beach at Worthing as it seems to be the closest and he absolutely loved it couldn't get him out of the water lol

Couldn't find our way to the bit at Goring by Sea but going to try again today :D

We are so lucky, we have a lovely beach nearby that dogs are allowed on. We go usually in the evening when its cooler for a walk and try to encourage 'the boy' into the water (it generally depends on the size of the waves) During the day though he would be too lively for other people and dogs there, a lot of older well behaved dogs go down and share with people choosing to use it. I look forward to several years on when he too can come down during normal days.

If you are willing to travel to Worthing you must go to West Witterings - the far end is dog friendly and just lovely! Sand for miles and miles!

And rarely gets the seaweed that blights Littlehampton either!

we,ve just got back home from a lovely dog walk at camber sands. we parked oposite the camp site and walked straight onto the beach. lots of dogs having a lovely time . the tide was a long way out . then we had fish and chips in rye. what better way to spend a sunny sunday evening!!
This is a very late reply in this thread, but what's a few years!
Today went down to Goring by Sea after reading about it on here. Checked it on Google Maps, put Marine Drive into the Sat Nav and it took me straight there. I didn't park on the road, but see I could have done, or in any of the side streets, but in the car park at the beach cafe. It's east of Almora Avenue, which is how it directed me into the area.
What a great find, it's not a beachy kind of place like Brighton etc!! Loads of grassed areas, all of which seem to be off leash areas according to signs and locals. A lot of 'poo bins', which is even better. Took the dogs on the grass first, although one had found the sea straight from the car - so much for 'under control' - then walked along the path to the other side of the cafe and let the dogs in the water. Somewhat rougher than they've been used to so I didn't let them stay there too long, but they managed and enjoyed it. I was surprised they didn't mind the stoney beach after being more used to sand.
The cafe was also a good find, the outside area is currently being redone and will provide nice outside eating when finished. Currently some of the tables are on the grass. We sat outside, but the inside looked good too. Also a good and varied menu from soup to a fairly full meal. Prices were okay too.
As I don't have to rely on weekends to go anywhere, it'll be good to go down during the week when it's less busy. Nice spot, good find, thanks for the information, folks, definitely going to be a regular visit.

Wow this is a long running thread eh??
Goring is great eh??
The best beach is the Witterings(In Sussex) if you are willing to travel(near Chichester).
I've just got back from Southwick beach with one of mine, low tide and watching a few surfers, bliss!!

About 1.5 miles further west in Ferring is the Blue Bird Cafe. The beach and greensward are great and the cafe is dog-friendly, so you can take the dog inside if the wind is howling!
See google maps
here. The pin for the Blue Bird is actually in the wrong place, it's the orange roofed building adjacent the beach near the crescent of beach huts. The entrance to the car park is near the bus-stop at the corner where South Drive and West Drive meet.

Or you can park in Goring and its only a short walk west on the path to Ferring!! Lovely all along there and often great to watch the kitesurfers too..
I know West Wittering is good, but have yet to get there. It's a bit further west than I normally want to go if I am just 'popping down' on a quick trip. Ferring is good, and I can see how you can walk from Goring along and back. Cool.
I know it won't help but the beach we walk along is nearly always empty, sometimes the odd dog or person & its completely STUNNING. I also haven't met any unsociable dogs ! The weather is pretty good too ..... so far lol.
New Brighton Beach, New Zealand :-)

Not envious at all Jo!!!!
Diane
Its great :-) wish i'd done it years ago !
Interestingly in the local paper the local gundog club are holding an open day ...... i might go & have a look ;-)
You do know prison wardens & staff are sought after over here dont you ;-) lol

i am lucky i got the basingstoke canal on the dor step plus the sea hour way from me,
