Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / in season any help
- By jordan [in] Date 27.06.06 18:21 UTC
hi everybody, my girl is nearly 4 years old and all her seasons have been a heavy bleeder. I mated her last august but she missed, last tuesday i noticed a drip on her vulva so i wiped with a white tissue and it was a watery brown colour, happened every day since only about 2 drips but nothing that has marked her bed, so yesterday blood spots on the floor and red in colour she now has a swollen vulva and is irritable as this  is differant to her other seasons would you say yesterday is day 1 or was last week day 1, has anybody experienced differant seasons after mating your girls any help please.

It could be either a false start or a less bloody season started a week ago.

I would count last week as day one and take her to the stud when she shows signs of being ready, whenever that may be.

Had a similar thing with my girl's second season, she had one tiny brownish spot on Sunday, then nothing till Tuesday, when again there was a small brownish spot at lunchtime, but nothing more until last thing Tuesday, when it finally got going properly. On Monday I took her to the park as I'd almost convinced myself the tiny brown spot had just been mud, and we met my friend's very experienced stud dog, and he wasn't interested - my own boy (sex mad) was leaping all over her though! So I guess I count Sunday as day 1? I'm not mating her yet, just trying to work out her cycle for if / when the time comes! :-)
