My 2yo daughter has woken up this morning covered in spots.  She's the last one of the playgroup to get it so it was fairly inevitable.....

I'm about to sling some bicarb into her bath and hubby has just headed into town to get the calamine....  Anyone got any idea how long the spotty stage lasts?  We're supposed to be going to Center Parcs on 3rd July to see Brum and Mia would be so disappointed if we couldn't go.

Would ask the doctor, but it's Saturday and I've looked online and read several conflicting reports, so I thought I'd get things straight from the horses mouth.....

Thanks in advance,
Helen

Chickenpox information.

Your child is contagious until all the spots have crusted over, usually about a week after the rash begins. You should be all right for 3rd July. :)

Hi, Aaaawww poor little Mia :-( I'm not 100% sure but I think that the most infectious period is before the spots come out and during the 'blister' stage. When the spots are dry and crusty, I'm sure that they are no longer infectious - somebody with a little more knowledge will be around soon to clarify this?? It's awful isn't it? I caught them off my nephew when I was 16 and I was really ill. Cut her nails as short as possible and put some little cotton socks on her hands if she starts to scratch a lot - I have quite a few scars from all the scratching I did:rolleyes: I hope Mia soon recovers - the little ones usually bounce back! I'm sure that she will be able to see Brum - my little boy used to love Brum :-D
