Hello,
I have written on here before about my 2yr old BC having scabby spots. He has not had them for a while. We visited the vets last night for a check up on an injured leg (which he is being given antibiotics for) and the vet checked him over and he is fine. I came home from work today and he has got bloody puss filled spots all over his back which has matted in patches to his fur. As it was worse than it had ever been and there were holes in his skin I rushed him to the vets. The vet thought that it looked like infection under the skin which burst out causing the bloody puss. He said it could possibly be a reaction to the antibiotics that he is on.
He will be going to the vets tomorow for tests (I never got tests done previously because it was never this bad and was not bloody).

Has anybody experienced this before?? We won't get the results back from the tests for at least a week

He is fine in himself and has not seemed to notice it.

Ideas?

Has he had those antibiotics before?

He is on 500mg Ceporex twice daily since 17/5/06.

Looking back through vet bills he has had the following (soory if they are not antibiotics but I am just picking word that possibly might be):
sulphasalazine 500mg (March 06)
ceporex 500 mg (Dec 05) - lots of times
Metronidazole 200 mg (Nov 04) - lots of times

Actually, looking at his records he does seem to have been on these tablets when he has been treated for what has been described as pyoderma but has the same but milder symptoms as now.

I think that the biopsy's will (hopefully) confirm this. How can a biopsy confirm drug allergy???

I have no idea but I would ask them not to use these again! It looks likely that it's a reaction to the tablets doesn't it?
