Oh how embarrasing I fell over in the town on my way to work!  Boy did it hurt but I just picked myself up as though nothing had happened and carried on walking to work!  By the time I got to work my sandal was full of blood and even the first aider cringed at the sight of my toe!  ended up in Casualty who dressed it for me!  Don't know if my face or foot was the redder!

Ouch! :( I swear the pavements are harder than they were when I was young. I blame the Government!

Aww :-( Hope it's not too bad.

{{{hugs}}} to you xx

Oooh, poor you.

I used to fall over regularly in the 70s.  Not so much to do with drinking habits ;) but more to do with platform shoes.  I loved them being only 5'2" :D  Not very elegant with scabby knees though :D

I thought my falling days were over but then I got the loony tunes dog!  She has pulled me over twice at dog club, how embarrassing.  At least though I had people to laugh with, when you are on your own you feel such a twit.  I did a "Dick Emery" (turning your ankle so that your leg turns out as your foot lands on its side) in our town centre after arguing with 2 strapping Aussies trying to con me into switching energy suppliers.  I found that very embarrassing, probably because I was feeling indignant at the time.

I hope your toe is better soon.  At least with it being summer you can get away with open footwear while your toe heals.

Sounds really painful, i always find it more embarrassing when i am alone and fall over, if someone is with me it's easier to laugh it off. Hope it's not to sore. It's making me cringe i have done similar things on regular occasions.

I'm the clumsiest person I know...I'm always falling over.

I'm a bit concerned as I'm off to Dublin tomorrow for a hen night and I have bought the most gorgeous pair of strappy platform wedges to wear and I'm sure to fall over in them  Might pack a pair of flats too just in case :D

Glad your feeling better today, Craigles :)

Can you sue someone (council) for an accident like they show on tv when its not your fault and make them pay for your pain?
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 23.06.06 11:52 UTC
Don't get me started on this vile compensation-culture that's creeping in. All that does is raise everybody's council tax and insurance premiums. Far better to be adult about it and admit you weren't looking where you were going and take responsibility for your own actions.
- By craigles [gb] Date 23.06.06 11:59 UTC
No i wouldn't sue i'm old school and believe accidents are accidents, now if somone had come and tripped me up or pushed me purposely I might be thinking differently.  The kerb was big enough for me to see and not in any way damaged or dangerous. I've always got my mind two days ahead planning my ever hectic life whilst walking to work...my fault totally.  I wish I was a more relaxed person and could take each day as it come but my life is ruled by lists...oh how I envy some of my disorganised friends.  X

When I was 81/2 months pregnant, I slipped on a condom - yes, a condom:eek: outside a pub in the city centre. It was during the day and very busy, luckily I was holding hands with my husband and he saved me from hitting the deck!! I have never been so embarassed in my life! Hope your toe is soon better.

There is irony in that!
- By luvhandles Date 23.06.06 13:49 UTC
My husband won't ever let me live that down......he still mentions it to this day, 8 years on!!! By the way, we weren't coming out of the pub, just walking past doing some last minute baby shopping!! I made it read as though we were on a pub crawl or something:eek:

Poor you Craigles :( I don't know which is worse - the falling or the landing?  Hope it's better soon.

A few months ago I 'fell' in the local market town :(  I caught the toe of my shoe on a curb, sort of saved myself and then slipped on a slippery metal drain cover.  Apparently I launched into the air as if I was trying to fly  (having trouble typing this bit, can't stop laughing :D ) I went upwards first, arms outstretched and then landed on the top of my chest (very well endowed chest too ;) ) but managed not to graze my chin.  OH simply laughed manically as it was so comical   a dear old gent made to catch me but it's a good job he was too far away ;)   I thought that I'd have a huge bruise above my bazoomers but... nothing!  It just hurt for a bit :(  Have to say I was a bit upset at my OH laughing like that, but once he told me how it looked I saw the very funny side.  My little boy was wonderful tho, so caring and concerned.  Thank goodness he doesn't take after his dad
