Hi new to this forum, been feeding raw for about 4 months now ,my boy is doing really  well no biting paws hair loss a lot less no runny eyes and normal stools.he eats everything I offer him apart from liver and kidneys he will eat heart but I have read somewhere that this is not classed as offal as it is a muscle meat have tried drying out the liver making a liver cake but he will not touch it,he does eat green minced tripe, just wondering if I should give him a supplement as he is a large breed and still growing.

Hi Curly!! Welcome to Champdogs!! :D

Have you tried Blitzing your offal in the blender, then you can hide it in with your Mushed Veggies.. this works usually :)

Have you tried using offal from different animals. One of my dogs won't touch pig's liver or kidney but loves ox and lambs offal.

Otherwise, try Huskygal's suggestion :)

I have only ever tried lambs offal will give it a go

i would try blitzing it and making it a mushy paste like husky gal has said.

we had to do this with one of ours who wouldnt eat it:eek:.  he loved it when it mushy.  after a while i blitzed it less and less so it was chunks and he now eats it straight from the pack with no problems.

i have done the same with raw fish.......a couple of ours didnt seem to like the feeling of the skin but will now eat them in large chunks.  the rest just eat them whole.

Same here! My boy won't eat offal from pigs but loves lambs liver, kidney etc.

It sounds a bit strange but, if the blending idea doesn't work, I know of people who have had success with feeding offal frozen. Quite refreshing on a hot day :D

We are`taking the brave step hopefully soon into total barf but the offal is a problem for me  It makes me hurl looking at it and touching is a no no

I know I will get used to it eventually but it will a big hurdle ;)

HG your suggestion of the blender is making me feel so sick :(

I used to be exactly the same Lucy. The mere sight of liver was enough to make me chuck up. At the start, I alwaya handled it with latex gloves on as the feel of it made my skin crawl but I am completely fine with it now (although blending it still makes me feel a little queasy  )

I am sure I will be fine but hate offal as the taste for me make me hurl

I have been looking at all the road kill and we would have about six months worth of food for the girls if we had our freezers set up as the deer, pheasants and rabbits over the last week has been amazing

I am sure I will get used to it as the one thing I find so fasinating is watching them devour a lump of meat and bone

They are having wholemeal pasta with wizzed courgettes and leeks then a turkey leg for main course :)

I think what we like is planning their dinner as well as ours :D .We love cooking etc so just another extension to our hobbey :D
