Today I decided to tidy and rearrange the 'my favourites' file on my internet front end so that it was easier to find things.  Put lots of stuff into folders and arranged them so that they were easier to find - especially the ones I use all the time.  Renamed the 'dog stuff' folder as 'DOGS'  (most important folder on the computer) and carried on working.  Now the folder and all its contents has disappeared   can't find it any where, nothing, nada, nichts :( :(   6 years of research and information gone into the ether without trace and I know I haven't deleted it!  I'm now trying to recreate the whole thing from memory (my memory  )  this has happened before but never to a folder as important as this :( :( :(

Feeling very sad at the moment :( :(

Hi Dill,

can't you retrieve it through "history"?   Or else run a search from the start menu - I know I lost a lot of fave folders before and I'm pretty sure that's how I found them again.

Hi if you go into 'programs' then Accessories, go to SYSTEM TOOLS, open it up and you can specify a date you want the Computer restored to...say the day before yesterday or last week and HEY PRESTO! All your folders back! All the best, Dawn X

Have you accidently dragged it into another folder.  I have done that before and thought it was lost forever.

Does that work for internet folders as well Dawn? just curious cos I didn't know that. Would that include emails aswell?
- By newfiedreams Date 21.06.06 14:56 UTC
Yep, it just takes the computer, all it's settings etc back to a previous setting on a certain day...whatever you had on the computer will re-appear...it still keeps all the e-mails recieved after that day...it's just the system settings that are sent back, all the best, love ya! Dawn XX

Have you done a search to see if it was accidently dragged somewhere as sandrah suggested. You could search for your dogs folder.

I've searched every dang folder in my favourites and it aint there :(   there doesn't seem to be a facility for retrieving folders in my favourites or searching for them

It gets better tho, I did a system restore on the computer (to yesterday) and AOL wouldn't/ couldn't connect to the server at all   I had to undo the restore just to get on the net    Starting to feel really peed off now :(

I also contacted AOL help (NOT!) and they were singularly useless!  just suggested restarting the computer and then doing a quick restore of the AOL files - which did nothing useful

thing is I know without a doubt that I didn't delete the folder  and what happened to all the links I put into the new AOL folder I made? they've disappeared too

going to try another system restore now to a week ago - running out of ideas now :(
- By Dill [gb] Date 21.06.06 23:04 UTC
Well,

System restore didn't work again  had to do a quick restore of AOL just to get on the net :(

Dogs folder is nowhere to be seen - looks like it's gone for good :( :(

I've had to get a few glasses of Ribena down me, it's been a bad day:(

Now I have to try and remember all the links from the folder  not sure but maybe my mind-mapping skills will help, anything's worht a try at this stage :(

anyway, if my typing gets a little ropey tonight it'll be the Ribena - I never dilute the good stuff ;)
