I have been told about a 20 day contract to teach basic photography in local primary schools....it looks fun & I am sure its something i would enjoy....HOWEVER I have been self employed for 20 years without ever having the need to write a cv!!! So what do people put in cv's these days aprt from qualifications & jobs etc?  Anyone up to speed on these things?

Off the top of my head :-)
Personal Details: name, d.o.b, address, phone no
Eductation: schools, colleges etc
Qualifications:
Experience: most recent job first
Personal Profile: a little bit about yourself
References:

I think that's it- I use the very basic layout one that was taught at school but know friends who work in design etc that use a more arty farty layout and text :-)

My husband has just been a course (as part of his resettlement out of the armed forces) and has just completed his CV in a newer recognised style from that I learnt way back.  If you like I could PM you with a copy just so you get the layout etc.

if you need any help give me a pm as I can probably help as we run a write your own cv course,  you won't come out with a cv but it does tell you what empoyers are looking for in a CV.   I can mail you some bits if you want?

Take Sam and some cameras, add a quantity of school children and what do you get?

Don't forget to mention on the CV that, should any go astray, you have your very own four legged child tracking service!

Seriously best of luck. :)

When I look through CV's I like to see what people have achieved. It's also a good idea to tailor your previous experience to the position you want. I don't mean lying, just remember that each job teaches you different skills that are useful. So if I wanted to fill that position I would want to know what your experience with photography was, can you teach the principles to others, have you ever worked with children before? Anything that makes you the right person for the job.

Most current ones I get have goals and objectives, jobs (better ones have achievements in the job rather than task lists), education, small statement of personal interests. Good luck.
