Topic Other Boards / Foo / Help please....Tumble dryer hose box instead of window...
- By Sullysmum Date 19.06.06 12:52 UTC
Hi, does anyone use those boxes instead of opening a window to put the hose in, Can you tell me how they work and does it steam up the room and anything else you might think of that would help, running out of ideas, thankyou.

Do you mean a condenser dryer?

I have one and it does not steam up the room you just have to empty the condenser regularly - I seem to recall someone saying something about taking longer to dry things though - but I can't say I noticed just thought it more convenient not having the hose hanging out the window as I don't have one in my utility!

Hi, no its a small box that you put water in ? and attach the hose from a normal tumble dryer not a condensing one, do you know what i mean?

I know what you mean as I have one. Mine works well. You put cold water in the bottom of the box and thats it. It doesn't steam up the home it's fab. I got mine from ebay new for £10.

Is it not possible to vent it out through the wall?
- By louise13 [gb] Date 19.06.06 19:35 UTC
Aldi or Lidl have them this week from Thursday for £6.99

Cant vent it through the wall, as its a council place, we had it in an air brick space and the air just blowing out there but fluff filled the brick holes so had to take it down, did have it out window but now tumble dryer moved to kitchen and have to climb to reach the window ( over the sink) and i have had a couple of falling accidents here, so dont want to risk it,so got the box condenser on its way from ebay, thankyou for your help.

Are you sure the council will not let place a covered vent in the wall if it will improve the environment inside and prevent the danger of damp?

If it is your only choice then it will work just the same as a condenser drier does . The box does the condensing for you.

It does however it can take longer to dry the clothes this way a little. Can you not hang the hose out the window? you can vent a hose out of a council house no problem. It is only a vent hole :-)

Any plastic water tight container with a lid you can cut a hole in is a 'condenser box'..... wouldnt pay a tenner for one, mine (when i had a dryer) originally started out containing rat poison :D

Thanks all, cant put out window as have to climb onto work surface/sink area and dont want another accident like i had previously, have bought one from ebay for £7 inc postage inc extra ice trays! Didnt think i could do anything with outside of house bricks etc if council owned but sorted now, thankyou to everyone for help.
