Sorry folks, but I just had to cheer. My son was due in court next week to try to get residency (custody) of his 6 year old son. He received a phone call today to state that his ex isn't going to contest it, so my grandson now has a decent chance of a life :)

The story behind this is quite simple. My son had a relationship with a girl, who fell pregnant. They stayed together for the sake of the baby (against my wishes ;) ) After a couple of years we began to have doubts as to the suitability of the mother. (Munchausen by proxy was mentioned :( )She kept on saying that my grandson was having fits. Funny how she was the only one who ever saw them. :( Test were inconclusive. Doctors put grandson on epilin (sp?) Eventually, son got fed up and moved out, reluctantly leaving grandson behind. Within a year the police and social workers were at his door. He was given temporary residency whilst background reports were checked. So, after nearly 2 years we have the result we want :D

Hope all goes well for your grandson, the mental illness mentioned is terrible for any child involved.

Great news! :)

I'm sure it must have been a long hard road to get to this point but you can all look to the future now :)

Thanks folks. It is great news. I still can't believe she's agreed to it. :D

My grandson was taken off the epilin earlier this year, and guess what? No fits! ;) He has been a different child this year, he's even been known to give cuddles :) Something he didn't do last year. :( They wouldn't let him start school when he was 4 1/2, he had 'issues' the Nursery School thought he would be better to work on. After time with his father (nearly 2 years now) he is a changed child. Happy, friendly, outgoing, talkative. In fact he's just a typical boy, thank heaven. He even fell out of a tree last week :) :D It's so much easier to love him now  ;)

Missed this earlier - thrilled for you and your son :)  Please God this little boy will just continue to come on in leaps and bounds and get the kind of loving, caring upbringing every child is entitled to.

All the best!  Teri :)
