Hi,

We are thinking of going upto Scotland for the August bank holiday.

Can anyone recommend any good places to go that we & the dogs will enjoy.

Really depends on where you want. Every year me and my parents go to our cottage in a little village called newtonmore and it is absolutley wonderful. So many lovely walks for the dogs but you do have to go further a field for anything else.

I can't recommend any actual places to stay but Dumfries & Galloway is a dog walking paradise, if your dogs like good woodland walks.

We've not long since got back from Tobermoray on the Isle of Mull & had a great time, lots of lovely walks eps on the Isle of Ulva & Iona which you can get to by a short ferry ride.

I'm not really sure where we want to go. We've just been saying we will go to Scotland every year but have never got there and always end up just going to the lakes.

I'll ask OH later how far he wants to travel. I've just checked newtonmore & multimap reckons it will take us about 5.5 hours to get there so thats not too bad.

Tobermoray is an extra hour and half so not sure if OH will want to go that far with us planning to only spend 3 days actually in Scotland.

Dumfries & Galloway might be a good consideration. I like the idea of woodland walks.

I have had holidays all over Scotland and her islands and have enjoyed every single one.  I truly think you can just take your pick of the country :)

We have decided that we don't want to travel much further than Dumfries, maybe go as far as Kilmarnock.

Can anyone recommend and B & B's around this area?

Thanks

Well, I don't know any B&B's but we stayed at the Turnberry resort near Ayr and they welcome dogs - even my 16 week old puppy was welcome to stay. They're pricey but you can get deals. Golf course is supposed to be great (not a golfer myself). I alternated between taking the dog for walks, taking the dog for lunch on the patio and dropping dog off in the room to go get a facial.
