Lots to discuss here, and it is obvious that people will have to agree to disagree. So can we all do so with civility please. If you can't disagree without becoming disagreeable something is wrong. Feel free to continue the discussion here, having a new thread also makes it easier to read!

Yes, definitely lots to discuss!
I was wondering about the pedigree V x breed scenario as Virbac who produce Canigen DHPPi and Lepto 2 (the ones causing Spangler's reaction and subsequent death) said to me that adverse reactions to vaccines are more common in pedigree dogs - so they have obviously done some research to come to this conclusion.

What's the feeling/opinion on this?

Would it be factor that more pedigrees are boosted than x breeds, therefore meaning more adverse reactions are reported in pedigrees?

Do we know for sure that more pedigrees than x breeds are vaccinated?
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 04.06.06 20:26 UTC
As nobody knows for certain how many dogs there are in the UK, it's impossible to say what percentage of the total are vaccinated, let alone their breeding.

It does seem logical that the people who would rule out vaccination on financial grounds are more likely to own crossbreeds.
- By Spender Date 04.06.06 22:32 UTC
Nope, I was thinking later than it is more likely for x breeds to find themselves in rescue which with status unknown would be vaccinated for the full course.

We don't know Annie, it's only what Virbac are saying - now this may not be fact, just something they want us to believe!

There's information about titre testing, boosters, nosodes etc here.

Here is another article about vaccines and how they work.
