Topic Dog Boards / Behaviour / 9 month pup started peeing again!
- By dannii [gb] Date 01.06.06 19:51 UTC
I have a 9 month dog Boris who has in the last few days started peeing around the house  with no warning. He's been fully house trained from 14 weeks he. lets you know when he needs to go out by hitting the door keys with his nose or he whinges. It's not like him could it be a UTI? or is he just playing up? He's not too popular @ the moment! Thanks Dani

Is this a full wee or possibly inappropriate (to us) marking behaviour as he is now adolescent.

No it's a full wee, he did it 4 times yesterday! He does do marking but only when he's out.

I would get him checked out at the vets straight away to make sure he hasn't got an infection or something!

Yeah I think your right. I'll take him to the vets, as I think it could be more my partner just thinks he's being a pain!

I agree a vet visit first. Secondly, any stress or anything different can cause dogs to behave differently and housetraining can often be one of the first things to go :)

Adolescent dogs do sometimes have a setback in housetraining as well, hopefully it is something that can be easily cleared up. Don't tell him off over it, as he may then start to be concerned about going in front of you when he's meant to, and what you'll then get is a dog who waits until the owners have gone and then goes! Not saying you would tell him off but plenty do as it's a natural reaction although not a good one for training and improving housetraining ;)

Good luck,
Lindsay
