Hi all. Well Freya was spayed yesterday and although she was sleepy and in a bit of pain yesterday she seems to have perked right up today. We have avoided giving the pain killers for various reasons and she seems to be ok. The problem is how do we stop her from jumping and running around. She kept jumping up when I came home despite a major op and OH being with her for that time and just now we had to stop her from chasing Molly in one of their evening mad sessions. I'm just worried she'll do herself an injury but am at a lost on what to do. Molly was totally different after her op so we didn't have this prob.

ANy suggestion???
keep her away from the other dog, so shes not tempted to play, and stay with her. When I had mine spayed I arranged it that OH did the cooking, school runs etc and I stayed with her in the spare room for the first 3 days. She was made to stay down, not easy as mine are allowed to jump up and cuddle, and she was walked on a long lead. maybe a bit OTT, but I was worried she may hurt herself as shes a bouncy dog.
Hope she recovers well, good luck :)

I had to keep my bitch in a crate at night and on a lead for a few days as she was like a puppy

she even went in the garden on a lead to prevent her dashing up the steps and racing round
If ever I need the same op I'm booking into the vets :D :D :D

LOL :D
Yep - Phoebe was charging around like a loony the day after!

the trouble is they don't know they have Had an operation. If you have a crate crate her with a nice juicy bone, or Kong that will keep her still and happy.
Crates are OK if they are used to them. Mine are not, so I had to be with her. putting her in a crate, shed have gone loopy lol!:)
Like the comment about using the vet if the poster wanted the op....me too! If I could come out of a major op as bright and bouncy as my little mare, I'd be dead pleased, I can tell you! :D
Well she has calmed down thankfully. She seems to be calmer if I'm in the room. I always knew OH was the soft touch with her!! :) We haven't crate trained either dogs so that isn't a possiblity but think I'll fill a few kongs for her mad moment tonight. Thanks all
