Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / An early bitch
- By Razor Edge Khan [gb] Date 28.05.06 16:47 UTC Edited 28.05.06 18:50 UTC
Today i saw a bitch being mated and she was putting her tail behind her legs and crying, i believe she had a muzzle on. the male was romping her, with a man holding the bitch up high.

Now, i went over to see what the commotion was, he said the stud is going to liverpool tmorrow and needed to be bred now, i asked how far into the season she was and he said 4 days. I was amazed i didnt believe this was possible.

The question i wanted to ask is that will be bitch have problems or problems with puppies as what i class as 'r*pe' being done to her?

Answers appreciated, as if this is bad for dog i will contact rspca asap.

You're mixing with the wrong breeders Razor Edge Khan. :(
It's very rare (but not impossible) for a bitch to have ovulated and be ready for mating on the 4th day.

this is someone who lives in my area, so those this mean that their will be no puppies, should i contact rspca

I have once had a bitch ready to be mated on day 5 but that is very early and very unusual.  I doubt very much if the RSPCA would be interested. :(

oh yes, should i add that there was a lock

If she was that early in the season, and that unwilling to be mated there's very little chance of there being any puppies. Sounds like a total idiot who did this without any knowledge whatsoever.......

should i report it?

Shall i tell him their isnt the slightest chance for puppies, even if he finds another stud, i believe this guy doesnt derve rights to be dog owner, he is inconsidderate and damn right evil. I certainly believe i should report it wanted to know if this is normal or possile?

This may not be the actions of a responsible breeder, nor in the best interests of the bitch, but I doubt it is illegal, you could contact the RSPCA for their guidance. Do you know where the owner of the dog and bitch live? Would you be prepared to go to court as a witness if they investigated and found there was a case to answer?

As to any furthur involvement personally by yourself, I would leave well alone. There could be puppies, maybe not, but I dont think they would welcome intervention by you.

Its a sad case, and I sympathise with your feelings, and anyone who has to resort to the rape of an unready bitch should have the same forced on them! Give your dogs an extra hug, and be thankful these people dont own yours!

i dont know exactly where he lives, but isee him around, i believe rspca should know about this. I would go to court about this if i had to. What i saw today with the crying and all, was just something i will never forget.

Anyways thank you for all your input, it is appreciated.

Regards

Well whether the RSPCA DOES something or not, they have a duty to investigate all calls they get, so it certainly won't harm to report it .If nothing else it may get this "breeder" a bit worried!

Other than mating my own dogs, or ones that I've been assisting at I've never seen another mating. It's just not really something you hapoen past in the park. Wasn't this in someones garden in which case you know where they live? Not that I think the rspca will be remotely interested anyway. I assume this was the same breed as yours too?

no not same breed as mne, i think they pekingnese, those white fluffly things. They were in a forest, this is where i walk my dogs. So you beleive it wouldnt be worth telling the rspca

If you feel that any animal is being treated cruely, then by all means report it. You will need to know where they live though, for the RSPCA to be able to find them. They can only go as far as the law allows, and only have the powers that the law gives them. They really are the best people to advise you, both as in if there is a case to answer, and what you can do to support them if there is. If you can find their number-Yellow pages?- give them a call now.

Sounds very weid to me, you usually mate the dogs at the stud dogs home, not in the middle of the forest!

But REK has used a local park as his breeding ground, according to his earlier posts (now pulled)

i have used a local green b4. yes, but i would never let a bitch cry like this, this was cruelty.

I too doubt that there will be any pups at the end of it, I'm still coming to terms with your mating on a common/park, now others mating in woods?? I've never witnessed anything other than controlled breedings on private property, so this is all new to me.

But I would feel like yourself Razor, and be utterly disgusted and upset at a forced mating so early into a season. I too would call it r**** (strong word I know, but that is what it is, if the bitch is not ready and crying.) I know that sometimes matings can be orchastrated but there is a difference.

If you feel strongly enough by all means report it, but I am inclined to agree the RSPCA will probably do nothing, this owner obviously has no feelings for his bitch and has put her through a horrible experience for nothing!  As I doubt she would even concieve. :-(

There is just a timy possibility that some sperm might live long enough to catch some eggs once she ovulates if she does so quite early, as semen can survive up to a week, but really four days is more likely, so the chance of pups is very slim.

To force an unready bitch like this is just very poor management.
