Hi, this may sound like a really stupid question, so sorry for being dim

I have just bought a kennel for when i get my pup (next Saturday) I have given the kennel an extra  couple of coats of wood treatment, do i bother varnishing it (i was thinking of yacht varnish) to make it even more water proof. (The kennel is not for him to live in but just to have somewhere in the garden he can go and chill out in)

Cheers

Most wood treatments are waterproof anyway.  Also, these days, wood is generally pressure treated to provide protection against rot.  So I would not bother, you just need to renew the treatment every couple of years.

If your wood is not pressure treated (which means you never have to do anything to it) you will need to use wood preserver on it, do not use creosote!

Varnish is pointless and if chewed, potentially harmful.
