Hi, I watched the Moors Murderer drama on TV last night and noticed that former Corrie Star Joanne Frogatt played the sister of Myra Hindley, can anyone tell me what character she played in Corrie, I know it was Zoe Tatersall as I looked it up on net but got stuck there? who was Zoe Tattersall?  I've watched Corrie it seems like forever but cannot recall this name at all?

Thanks, just one of those things that drive me mad if I can't find it! I do vaguely remember now!

Wasn't she Ashley's girlfriend?

Didn't she die in the end? Or was she the one that went into a convent? Or maybe I am thinking of someone else? I think she played his girlfriend till Maxine turned up (or Maxime as Ashley called her)

On a sidenote I thought the show was quite good and went out my way to watch it. I couldn't before understand why the brother in law was the one that was questioned for a long long time but now it kind of makes sense.

I think it is still something that will remain with many people ofr generations to come.

The chap playing Ian Brady I think has done it very well . Even the ears !!!

I felt sick a few times watching.

Couldn't watch it on principle!

Couldn't watch it on principle!

The relatives of the children they killed wanted this program to be made & have been involved all the way through the planning & making of the program

It does show how totally evil they were &(in Brady's case)still are

I didnt watch it on principle either, didnt realise that the parents of the children were supporting it. now I wish I had ( I think)

I was in two minds.  I remember it upsetting me so much when I was young and first discovering that not all adults are benign. I was encouraged to watch it by the relatives wishes that it was made and that the youngsters lost were always remembered but I was very relieved to see the actual murders left without an attempt to portray them in the drama other than alluding to them.  I have only watched the first half of last nights though, recorded the rest, and I understand there is another episode but I would imagine it will continue with the same sensitivity.

Ditto Isabel. I felt sick with the axe situation but agree I think they did it well. The actors have got the 2 as far as my picture of them goes down very well.

It also shows that Myra wasn't as innocent or misled as her defendants try to make out. Glad the authorities never saw it like that either.

The second half is on tonight so you'll need to record that too. :)

I know what you mean lindsay, i get totally freaked out and have nightmares when I watch freaky/scary stuff like that.  I don't know how to work my video so I watched it and dreamt a work colleagues brother was choking me to death last night - not nice   Unfortunately becuase I've watched the first part I'll have to watch the second or I'll be forever not knowing and that will annoy me.  cue more horrible dreams.

My sympathies re the dream!

I think the programme was done really well - there was only one murder, that of the last victim, but the rest of it was very much about the relationships between Brady and Hindley and the others, and how the police went about catching them and finding the bodies. It really affected me but in a thoughtful way, as I don't think anything in it was gratuitous which I was thankful for :)j

Although I remembered a fair bit about the case, the TV programme made me appreciate what it must have been like for the relatives of the murderers, particularly for Myra Hindley's sister, Maureen.  The effect it all had on her must have been absolutely unbearable at times.  Sad and ironic that she died so young, many years before her sister.

Another heartbreaking aspect was how much the fathers suffered.  Not only loosing a child but facing accusations themselves from police and society.

I think they got it about right.  I originally did not intend to watch it.  My husband wanted to understand why they had done it, planned it etc, so was disappointed to begin with.  But I think it was done very sensibly in not showing the abductions etc. After all there are living relatives who would not want to see or feel such things, so although the programme managed to show what utter cold blooded people they were it did not glorify what they had done in any way in concentration on the sister.

I think it is terrible though how poor Smith and the Hindley sister were treated so badly by the public, I had never heard of them, but if this side of the story had come out sooner maybe they would have been treated with respect after all without Smith going to the police they would never have been caught there could quite easily be many more victims and Brady and Hindley never brought to justice, what an utter shame they were never truly thanked for their part in their capture.
