We are looking after my mother-in-laws cross border collie and she does this weird thing with her food where she takes some of the biscuits out and puts them in the middle of the floor (right where you walk on them!!! Grrr) Just wondered if anyone knew why she might do this. Shes done it a long time and does it at her proper home.

My sons Husky does it to.  Guess he would rather not have those bits anywhere near his bowl.

Yup!  Barney does that, too.  Has done all his life, heheheh!

so does nips! it's usually when he's eaten all he really wants but plans to leave a little trail to return to if he gets peckish later.

My Tyler does that too, sometimes he will bring a biscuit into the livingroom and eat it in there!!!

Both of my BCs do this too.  Sorry I've no idea why they do it.

My little terrier does it too. He takes a few biscuits and will take them into another parts of the house, or sometimes up into the garden. He leaves them for later, i think in case he gets a bit peckish between meals :-D :-D

My dog doesn't do this but if I enter the kitchen while she is eating her kibble and she thinks there might be scraps in the offing she will open her mouth and let all the kibble drop out onto the floor

My dog used to do this all the time until we changed over food from Pedigree complete to Arden Grange and now she doesn't leave one tiny little bit and this is great seeing as she's always been a real fussy one!!  :)
