Hi everyone can anyone help please?
At feeding times (twice a day) both my dogs (eldest neutered age 9 years, youngest not, aged 20 months) have their food in the same room.
For the past few days the oldest won't eat his food until the youngest has finished his and then when the youngest goes to sniff the oldest's full food dish, the oldest jumps to his dish, guards his food and then has a snap at youngest. The youngest goes all submissive but the oldie then seems to have the atttitude "i'll eat it when i'm good & ready and use it to tease the youngie"
I've tried putting them in seperate rooms but the oldie still waits for the youngie to finish (he can see him through the dog gate) and this morning it was 45 minutes before the oldie ate anything and youngie could be let back in.
I was thinking of giving oldie 15 minutes to eat and then throw it away if he doesn't, the youngie eats his in no time at all. Do you think this would be wise?
In all other ways they get on fine, it's just this niggling problem that i really want to nip in the bud.
All advice welcome ;)
Thanks
