hey im on holiday in prague and seen loads of dogs- thought you guys would be interested in the range ive seen in 3 days, today we saw in the same street about 7 breeds of herding dogs!!!!

so far ive seen all sorts of dogs here- all pets

maremma
lowland polish sheepdog
tibetan spaniel
shar pei
leonberger
gsd
pug
spaniels- all sorts and mongrels
Rhodesian ridgeback
husky
malamutes
standard&mini dax
stanadard&mini&giant schnauzers
basset
beagles & mongrels
whippet
basenji
eng toy pinschers
poms
anatolian sheep dogs
doberman

and so many more- all looking well bred too!! crazy

i know that tourists can get ripped off- we were given a different menu and told to sit down when i asked about it- so i walked straight out! they will charge more if you dont challenge them, we have found a great place- where you can stay for hours and eat and drink for less than a fiver, friendly staff too! but ive experienced the opposite far more, sadly...but we arent lettig it get to us.

:D I think that happens the world over.  I've always thought it fair dinkums, though, if you are rich enough to travel............. :)

well we got our flights 6 months ago and they cost 80 quid in total for 2 people and we are staying in hostel- not exactly rich!!!

I'm a great one for looking for bargains myself abroad, seeking out little local eateries, taking the plat du jour etc. but I never object if I am charged more than a local would, well I probably would if I was in America say ;).  I do feel quite strongly, though, that Eastern European cities, one after another, have been touted as the cheap playground for the better off, not you really :), more those that have really exploited it like the stag parties seeking "adult" :( entertainment and encouraging misery for thousands of poverty trapped girls and woman.  I think you touched a raw nerve really I doubt I would have said anything if you had pulled off a coup in Paris ;)

There are some fantastic bargains to be had these days through the bucket and budget airlines. With a Hungarian best friend and a Polish Aunt I do know much as they raise their eyebrows at the 'British abroad' on occasion they still welcome our tourism with open arms. Some areas plight would be unthinkable these days without tourism floating the economy.
Nice to NOT see 'Labradors' on your list - maybe we aren't as 'common' as we think we are - grin grin grin!

I've nearly starved to death in Paris :)  In the days when I was an impoverished youngster ;)  I was also a vegetarian at the time, not only do they insist you eat meat but only meat that has been waved through the kitchen door rather than spent any time on the stove
I'm not suggesting people don't go and spend their money in Eastern Europe by the way :)

Yum Isabel, that's how I like my meat! We went to a restaurant in Geneva once that had printed on the menu 'if you like your steak well done, we suggest you choose something else'!! I immediately ordered the steak and it was gorgeous!! :-)

I was young then ;)  I must admit, once less factory farmed meats became more widely available, I returned to eating it on occasion and I tend to the rather more rare myself, although possibly still not quite taking it to French levels

Wel I am first/second generation Polish so lots of Polish relatives.  Was planning on doing the Wortld show there this year, except the girls have messed me up as they are likely to be in season /whelp around that time.

my parents are just back from Prague and said they saw lots of staffys

nope- no newfies so far, there are lab crosses though wylanbriar! they look sort of pointer x lab??

no staffs- seen a staff x beagle and a basset x beagle- which was funny watching the dog totally ignore his owner- what do ya expect with that cross!! half the dogs are off lead in the busy centre- bizarre but they are very very well behaved, walking down escalaters etc!

ive also just realised that 3/4 of the dogs i see are husky/mals! lots of these, more of these on lead than other breeds!

i went to a club the other night and there were dogs in there, and in h&m clothes store! i also saw a lady feeding a tiny chi at a restaurant table

ooh- also not on list- the most tiniest yorkies possible- they look horrible, probably just weigh 1kg or less.

Just as the dogs belonging to homeless people here are generally very well behaved in public - they get taken everywhere and are very well socialised!

I had a similar experience in Barcelona. I had seen 3 malamutes before even reaching our hotel and I had never seen a Mal up close until that point and saw another two in the course of our 5 days. Also got to meet Tibetan Spaniels, Shar-Pei and French Bulldogs all of which I had never met here and all well behaved, being walked along extremely busy streets. I almost keeled over when I saw a Golden Retriever trotting into the food hall of a large department store...I wish shops here would be so tolerant of dogs!
