Topic Dog Boards / Health / ocd in elbow of labrador puppy
- By Wendy Wong Date 29.04.06 20:51 UTC
We have a seven month old labrador puppy who has mild ocd in her right elbow. Can anyone give us any advice on how to manage this condition? please dont say lead exercise only because weve tried this only to have her belt round the house for no apparent reason other than high spitits.  Now we let her off the lead in quiet places where there are no other dogs and that seems to work,  At least if she runs it tends to be in straight lines! Also she has glucosamine from the vet and was on a course of norocarp pills which didnt seem to make any difference. We are hoping that as she grows the problem will lessen. Has anyone experienced this?

My experiences with OCD aren't good :(
I had to have a GSD pup not much older than yours pts on the vets advice because of the severity of his elbows.  I had another GSD that also had OCD and quite fragmented elbows.  He has very restricted exercise but still, according to his owners, has a happy life.   I haven't had any personal experience of the problem lessening.
