I'm getting my Ruby CKCS soon and would like to show him. I've read about Junior handling. The first Open show I've heard of is nr Essex which isn't too far from me. But wondered If anyone could offer any advice of showing? What he should look like?
Also I have a grooming question: How much do the Cavies Moult on average? And what is the groming like with having one? As I was considering a Mini Schnauzer but Just asking some questions regarding the Cavie.

You can email me a picture if you like - if you're going for handling, the dog itself shouldn't matter too much. But if you're interested in breed, I'm no expert, but I do have 2 Cavs I show, so can see if anything is badly wrong (I'm sure he's lovely though!). They should be totally free from any trimming for the show ring, bar the hair underneath paws which can be trimmed short. The paws themselves and all body hair should be left to grow long. I have no trouble keeping my two well groomed, my boy in particular has a very long luxurious show coat and only takes 5 or 10 minutes every day or two to keep shiny and knot-free. You have to check behind the ears, behind the front legs, and between the back legs too, but you probably already know that. :-) I would imagine it's a lot less work than a mini schnauzer, though they're very cute too.

I can confirm that, Henry is one very lovely boy & always looks gorgeous in the ring

Lou has a really heavy coat & he doesn't take that much work to keep looking good especially now he's older

Hard to be sure but I think most of the hair covering our house is from the American cocker - he sheds his show coat, drat him!! Ellie used to shed a fair bit as a puppy, guess she was changing to her adult coat, she doesn't shed much now, nor does Henry. I don't think they shed a huge amount, but rest assured the hairs will find their way everywhere! And I can't think of anything I can wear that won't show black, white, red and buff hairs!! :-D
