Today I received samples of chudleys classic and skinners 'Field and trial' Maintenance for my springers. Does any one else feed these succesfully or not? Thank you.
Nic.

my hubby has 2 springers, he shoots with them and they live out, hes struggled to find a reasonable priced food that would keep them in condition, however the chudleys worked wonders for them -the skinners didnt!

I won a bag of Skinners in a working test last year and "The Flower" didn't object. But then again, she is a labrador so. . . . . . . . . :p

I've got a GSP, GSD and terrier type, when I was looking for a lower protein food I was advised to use Chudleys by my local feed shop as it had everything else the dogs needed, that was over a year ago and they still thrive on it. Ingrid

The chap who bred Thistle uses Skinners field and trial for his 3 gundogs (labs) and swears by it

Just to chuck another food into the pot. My own personal favorite of the complete foods is Masters.

Hi
Just to give an alternative opinion to your question my lab (walking dustbin type) couldn't cope with Chudleys (introduced properly over a period of two weeks into her previous diet) it just ran straight through - eughh!!

Chudleys is sticky as it has a molasses type smell to it, I assume it might have a molasses additive in it. This encourages the animals to eat, but I have found in some dogs it goes right through them, so wonder if it is the sugary stuff causing it. I have used Skinners for years and had no problems. I have lately been using Gilpa with green mussel extract, which my dogs get on with very well. I usually feed a mixed diet, some biscuit and fresh meat or fish as well as a complete feed meals. My dogs are fed twice a day, because I have found this helpful for working dogs, whether they live in the house or out in kennels. I have had working border collies and I work my flatcoats, both picking up and in the beating line.

Skinners Field and Triual is fine for my HWV's but no good for the Bracco. He loses muscle and coat conditon very quickly on it.

i used to use skinners for my working cocker and my springer and my goldie, however - although they all did ok on it - they used to stink the house out with (how can i put it politely) wind! it was terrible, must have very high cereal content. i could stand it no longer and changed to burns (Active for working dogs) and its marvellous, it seem expensive on first site but when you work out the quantities you would ust compared to skinners it isn't at all. skinner is fine if you dogs live out/are kennelled!!!!! house dogs beware!! also burns is a holistic food all natural ingredients. as for chudleys i never tried it.
