I am an animal artist who is after help with any ideas of how I can advertise myself to reach a larger dog lover audience and would really appreciate any ideas. I currently advertise in Veterinary Surgerys and want to start going to shows (except I'm having problems finding any in my area (Cheltenham) before the first Championship one in November!) but would like to know where you, as the dog lovers, would look if you were after a portrait.

I would suggest getting a copy of Dog World, then looking to see when your next few shows are & booking a small trade stand. take along some examples of dogs and horses etc that you have already done, ideally with the photo you painted from and see what happens. Another idea is to offer to donate a portrait to the best in show at a couple of local shows and word will soon spread.

You could also offer your services on eBay which is an Internet Auction site http://www.ebay.co.uk. Set the price of the portrait at what you would like the minimum money for it and away you go. Any other advice just contact me.

Another thought....if you have done certain breeds, say a lab or a spaniel, then why not advertise in the breed club magazine, including the picture.....they are usually cheap to buy ad space in & you are getting to your target audience.
