Hi All

Just wondered if anyone else has come across a similar problem - My five year old westie is constantly scratching at the moment, I have checked for Fleas, Skins problems etc,  his skin is nice and pink and looks healthy enough and he has no fleas whatsoever, I comb and get him groomed reguarly and am now at loss as to what else to try,not really sure if a vet will be able to help.  Someone did say to me this maybe due the fact that he is getting his summer coat - is this a possibility??

Thanks
Jackie

Just to say, healthy skin ISN'T pink, pink is a sign of irritation. Healthy skin is pale, almost white in a white dog.

Thanks for that - will recheck tonight when I get home from work and then contact the vet if I have to, silly of me really to compare to the pink of human ckin I suppose, just alwasy thought that it would be pink!!

I find that Westies with a correct course, double coat have an almost blue/black skin that goes with their dark pigment.  The ones with thin, silky, woolly, single coats tend to be the ones with pink skin.
