my bitch puepa has become a woman! and has started her first season. she is a bit miserable, and swollen. a bit messy the first few days but is starting to clean her self more.

i have been walking her out as normal but been keeping her on her lead. we meet up still with our usual doggy friends. mostly all are castrated males. they have all taken an inrest to her. just sniffing more than usual but nothing more.
one thing i have noticed thougth is that my bitch dosnt seem to be intrested in the males at all. is this normal for a bitches first heat? or is it becasue she knows they are castrated. obviously i have no intension what so ever to breed from her, and i plan to spey after her first season.

She will only be interested when she is ready for mating, which is only for a few days at the height of the season. Be very careful as you never know when an entire male dog may turn up during a walk!

I assume you are only walking her around the streets adn meetng her doggy pals by chance?

You should not be walking her anywhere dogs are allowed or likely to be off lead. 

Not only woudl that be a risk to your bitch but very unfair on the owners of any entire males as they won't know your bitch is in season until their dog makes a beeline for her.

My girl wasn't interested at all during her first season, I guess that's something else that varies from bitch to bitch, and possibly from season to season!

just been walking to friends houses, and meeting the doggy friends as usual.
one friend owns a farm and i have been taking her there, but obviously on her led all the time.

she just seems less intrested in playing , she is usually really playfull when we go out.

and when she is on the lead she usally cant wait to get off the lead and go for a run. but she isnt objecting to being on the lead, in fact she is the best she has ever been.
