Any thoughts or experience on this please
i'm not sure whether to go with castration or vasectomy for my Border Collie

The only advantag to a vasectomy is sterility, but as ylu won't be allowing your dog to sire unwanted litters if you look after him properly I cannot see the point.  If it is because you own a bitch then it will make life difficutl for you as you would still ahve to split them up when she is in season as he woudl be mating her a the time which isn't a good idea.

The only situatuion I can see it being useful is if you need to be absolutely srue he cannot sire a litter, butstill wish to be competitive in the showring, as a neutered male will rarely win top honours.

Otherwise leave him entire or get him castrated once hw is fully grown, and mentally matured enough.
