Can any one tell me how to cover over a stencil done on a wall with metallic paint?  I have sealed it with primer, then emulsioned over it but after a week or two, it shows through!  I have tried emulsioning it over and over but no joy!  Any advice?

Put a picture over it :D

A bit messy but you could sand it off - just enough to take the metallic out.  Or maybe you can seal it with some unibond or something first?

Thanks for that, I have tried Unibond, it works for a week or two, then the border shows through again!  I think you are probably right about sanding off the 'metallic' surface, but I was hoping that there was an easier way out of it than that!!  :(

Sorry I wasn't more helpful...lol :D One of my bedroom walls had this bizarre mark where it looked like a serving hatch had been  :D So I just put up a throw my parents brought back from India!

I think sanding it off will be the best thing, as much as it will be a pain in the be-hind!

You could try sanding it off or you could try that paint they sell to cover nicotine staining which is actually metalic to look at so in effect you will be metalicing the lot! :)  When we bought our cottage off of three smokers  the ceiling was revolting and I just could not wash it off because it was artexed and it just kept shredding the cloths but this paint covered it beautifully and the white paint on top still looks pristine 5 years later.

You don't know the name of it Isabel do you?

I think it was by International, they do a lot of special job paints anyway and a decent sized Focus or B&Q ought to stock it.

Here goes.  Athough this one says a white finish.

We've just used that to cover some stains on our cloakroom ceiling where we'd had a water leak some years ago - it worked very well :)

I see it says white finish though, ours was definately silvery I wonder if they have changed it or mine wasn't International.

Just had a look at ours - it's not International - it's made by a company called Johnstones :) Definitely white tho' :D
