coudl someone please expalin to me what happens/or should happen when a dog is aquired , that has been microchipped . how do you change the owners details? who does this?

Hi  You probably need to get in touch with Petlog, It is the central data base held for most microchips !!  They have a web site but I think to do a change of ownership you need to pay £10.00 !!!  Good luck HS

You should have been given a form with the dog.

its on behalf of a friend of mine. she has just homed a boxer off a family. the dog was formally from the rspca.
vet can confirm the dog is chipped, and they have updated there records , but said obviously the old owner will have to fill out a change of ownership there end.
old owner said she did this on line? and friend shoudl get new papers in her name

If your friend didn't get the paperwork then she can ask the microchip database company to change it for her. They will write to the previous owners and wait for 30 days. If they don't hear anything then the dog will be transferred to your friends name. My ex had to do this with a bitch I bred that was returned when her owners split up in a hurry (long story, police involved) We never got the paperwork for her but she is now registered with my ex.

You can only do it online if you are a registered microchipper or have joined the dog for PetLog Plus already.
