Topic Dog Boards / Feeding / Reducing meals?
- By Paula [gb] Date 07.04.06 10:07 UTC
Can anyone tell me at what ages the number of feeds are reduced.  Even though I'm on dog number 3 I have had a complete blank in my memory on this one   I think my brain must be full!!

Thanks

Paula

I let the pips appetite guide me.  I usually find they are down to 3 meals by 3 months and onto two by 6 months or earlier if they are hearty eaters.  Mine is a medium size breed.

They are on one meal a day by a year.  Have never found the amount they get was enough to split into two meals and still ahve satisfied dogs.

Agree Barbara - once you notice pup losing interest in one of the meals then time to cut one out!

I have setters and my 31/2 month old has just gone onto 3 meals and I'll stick at this until he is 6 months now and go to 2 - unless by some miracle he decides 3 is too many before then - greedy sausage that he is!  My breed tend to keep on two meals for life then!

Why don't you ask your pup's breeder?
