I'm pretty new here and have been reading around.
I'm especially interested in the opinion many of you have on Burns.
I've had my cavvie on Burns puppy bites since the beginning of March. (He's 6 months old this month)
Since he's been on it - he's gained .2 of a kg.
Being my 1st dog - I'm not sure if this is ok or not?? His full weight is 6.6kg when we started Burns he was 6.4kg.
I've been reading about Naturediet and am now considering adding a spoonful to each Burns meal?
Any opinions please!!!!
Also - is Naturediet available through PAH?

To me the minimal weight gain doesn't sound like a problem conisidering you've only had your pup on the new food for approx. 6 weeks :)  Our 10 month old pup is on half Burns puppy bites and half JWB junior cos thats what suits her.  If your pup likes Burns on its own and is doing well on it then IMO there is no need to add anything to it (i.e. Naturediet).  If you are concerned about his weight gain over the next few months then just increase the amount of Puppy Bites you feed - the back of the packet is just a guide afterall ;)

P.S.  Yes you can get Naturediet from PAH

it isnt as easy as just increasing the amount fed, one of my boys was on burns as a pup and he didnt gain weight, by increasing the amount of burns all it did was give him the runs, which often happens if you over feed.

I would check with your pups breeder to make sure he is gaining the right amount of weight, you should also be able to tell by his overall coverage.  If you want to continue with burns it wouldnt hurt to add some naturediet or tripe :)

"it isnt as easy as just increasing the amount fed"

in some dogs it works and in others it doesn't - was merely making a suggestion to try :)

we have had trouble getting weight on our DDB since changing to burns(See thread)..So we contacted them and they were very helpfull and sent us out a sack of Burns"extra" not available in shops but your local supplier can order it in for you I believe. Our DDB has put on a kilo and a half in the fortnight he has been on it so seems to be helping..

Hi
I had my dog on Burns for while  but I found that his weight was slowly decreasing..when I increased his daily intake he still wasn't gaining weight it was just coming out the other end and quite often  I also found that the condition of his coat got worse so I have now changed to Arden Grange and he looks great and his coat has greatly improved. I do know a few people who have their dogs on Burns and have no problems but it really didn't suit mine at all.

Went to a free PDSA check at PAH today.
She said his weight was just fine...I'm reassured and happy!
Thanks!
