I have just been quoted £8.00 for one dog and £12.00 for 2 dogs per visit to my home to feed, water and a take for a 20 min walk.
Does that seem fair to you. It would be interesting to know what you pay/charge. All replies welcome.

£40 a day to live here, look after 2 danes (good luck to em I say) and an extra £5 per day per horse (I have 4)
Need to win the lottery I think!

Certainly would be cheaper in kennels if it's just two dogs :) I certainly wouldn't want someone just visiting - unless they came at least three times a day (preferably four times) - so someone living in is much better (although I would never leave mydogs with a stranger :D ). I pay £14 per dog per day for kennels (less 10% for two) - so would have thought that it would be much cheaper/safer for the OP to use kennels IMO :) :)

Yep. Unfortunately, I couldn't put Willis in kennels - he would have a heart attack - so I have to put up with a stranger from a reputable company. Lesser of two evils I guess!

Horses for courses - I couldn't have a stranger here - my dogs are far too protective here and are little angels in kennels :D :D

It was such a traumatic time for them the last time I put them in kennels, I said I would never do it again. So now I have to find an alternative.
There happiness is more important to me than money, but I dont want to be ripped off, thats why I asked my first question.
Hello,
Once a week I pay £10 a day (for one dog) for a pet sitter. I drop my girl off at about 7:30 and pick her up at 18:30. It would be more for an overnight. I prefer this as my girl gets attention/play all day rather than for 1 hour (lots of other dogs there), and I'm not keen on having people in my house (bad experiences in the past).
When my brother got married last year we got a sitter in for the girls( Beard Boy went to stay with his aunty Diane :D ) and the 5 rats I had at the time, it was 2 night and 3 days, she walked them twice a day for a few hours and was in the house all the time and even did my washing without me asking!
It was £90 in all which we thought was pretty good, and it means the dogs routine is unchanged and someone is always in your house. Ours have NEVER been in kennels and doubt really that they will have too. It works out well here, when my parents are away I'm here most of the day and when I'm away for shows I take 1 or more dogs with me, esp. during the summer.

I use a home boarding service when we go away that includes picking up and dropping off and he only charges £20 a day( i live in the south east) .I looked in to kennels but I know he wouldn't eat and i'd come home to an emaciated Boxer whereas at the sitters he's well excercised, has lots of attention, plays with other dogs and eats
Yes I have used either a housesitter and home boarding. It's much better compared to a kennel. I just can't bear to. You can find a good sitter thr NARP (National Association of Registered Pet Sitter) at their website
http://www.dogsit.comCharges varies - housesitting costs between 30-40 pounds while home boarding from 10-20 per dog. It all depends on the area. Hope that helps.

What about Barking Mad? I am led to believe they charge £15 a day & you can leave you dog knowing they will be having lots of fun with a family who will look after them! Think there's another company called Pooch Package Holidays as well!
