Topic Dog Boards / Behaviour / eating poo

Got a call of MIL today.

They have a 8 month lab cross who is eating poo and so she rang me & OH to see what she should do.

We advised that she should reward her when she does it outside & does't eat it & when she does eat it to ignore her.  We don't know much about dogs but was told when ours were young, reward good behaviour, ignore bad.

What else can she do to stop her eating the poo & if our advice is wrong what should we be advising?

Have you done a "search" at the top of the screen?  This topic comes up from time to time and there are different views and methods of dealing with it.  Some people think it can be behavioural and others think it is linked to diet but in any case I know it was covered quite recently

If you find that too much comes up under the search for "eating poo" then search for "pineapple" because if the pup is eating her own poo this is one method that people have found can be successful and will be included on those threads about eating poo.
