I sometimes despair of my fellow man!

At least this means that some poor dogs will have peace now. :(

Unfortunately, the 47 dogs taken today I doubt will ever be rehomable but at least they will no longer have to be baited against one another.   :(

It's a sad world when men can get mentally turned on by watching 2 animals savage one another to death.

The only thing to stop this is harder sentences.

Poor dogs, what a miserable life they must have had. They were once sweet little pups and look what they did to them.

Oh to be a judge just for a day.

More intelligent we may be, but more civilized our race certainly isn't.

Infact, I think out of all the animal kingdom we probably come bottom in that respect.  (Apart from everyone of CD. :-D)

I sometimes despair of my fellow man!

Can you call these monsters that ? No

They make me sick to the bottom of my stomach.

Dollface

I agree but unfortunately in this day and age that is exactly what they will get  Oh and maybe a ban from keeping animals for a few years

What I would like to know is - if they are banned from keeping animals - who polices this

Don't think the regular cops would have time to be worried about it

No-one polices this Poohbear.

There was a man who used to live in our street who abused his bitch (who he used for breeding) so badly she had to be pts,he was banned from keeping animals for 10 years and within 3 months he had another. He then bred his new bitch and was convicted of cruelty against 3 of the pups.He moved away from us but I have heard he is breeding again

So what is the point

That is absolutely terrible!!! These things happen all around us and we don't even know it. Or if we do, there's not much that can be done........ guys like that will be out on the street again, breeding other dogs and using them for fighting.
Another sad thing...... these dogs won't have much of a life after this either. They'll probably kill them  ......

>these dogs won't have much of a life after this either. They'll probably kill them

I know I stick my head out when I say this but PTS these dogs is the kindest human act IMO.  I know it's not the dogs' fault that they are like they are but having been socialised into such an awful way of existing and with the terrible mistreatment they have to carry in their memories PTS is probably kinder than putting them in rescue.

I agree entirely. :(

... is it a falsehood or are we seeing more and more cases of sadistic cruelty these days? Is it like the older generationtend to muse that 'kids were safe to roam back in the 50's and 60's' when infact they WEREN'T but the horrible consequences were not reported so sadistically and widely in the gutter press?

In the last twelve months my guts have churned so many times over specifically, a hung dalmation, dogs set on fire, a rottie pup so disgusting killed I won't write it here, dogs beaten dogs this, dogs and fireworks and its just making me bitter and cold to the human race.

Has this been a very bad year (these reports are usually in the news or dog world) or has it always been like this just we didn';t heard about it?

Sigh and sigh again.

I don't think it is worse than years ago.  IMO media has just wised up to the fact that these instances are shocking to people and so gain a lot of attention.

When I was a kid there was no animal rights activists, even at 7 yrs old I had a fur coat and everyone thought it was lovely incl myself.  I remember seeing a man kick a dog hard and thinking it was awful but no one thought of reporting that sort of thing years ago.  I think it is because more people have more respect for animals these days that these instances are reported in the first and consequently make the media.

Hope that makes sense. - getting hungry :D

...I'm certain you are right. Even working for years with breed rescue hasn't quite prepared me for the things reported in the last 12 months. Weused to be disgusted about kids being idiotic and cruel with airguns....now it seems a whole different level of cruelty. But i'm sure its not, its just reported more comprehensively....

Dreadful.
