hi all, i have a bit of a dilemma..

i had my dog insured with more than and i had my renewal through which was due on the 2nd april (today). last week i changed insurance companies and took out a policy with m+s and the policy start date was 2nd april. just my luck i had to take my dog to the vets today as she wouldn't put any weight on her back leg and it turns out she has ruptured her cruciate ligament and needs an operation tomorrow:eek:. what i wanted to know is do accidents count as medical conditions as m+s will not pay out for any 'medical condition' that occurs within the first 14 days of the policy. does anyone know if i will stand a hope in hell of claiming for this as my policy only starts today? i know its a very long shot but was just wondering:rolleyes:

thanks becky

you may have a chance that you phoned earlier on to start on a specific date. i think accidents are payed for but don't quote me on that.

hope it works out for you

ask your vet if the rupture was caused by an accident- or has it developed as a condition? if its an accident then I THINK they should pay?

If its classed as an accident which occured today, then they should definately pay out.
One of my old rescue doggies cut his foot really badly on some flint the day we got him and the insurerance company paid up no problems.

Good luck (and I hope your dog gets better soon)

i hope you manage to claim - it's rotten timing. i hope your dog is ok and recovers well from her op. :)

My rottie did the same about 3 wks after her insurance started and they paid up no problem as they classed it as an accidental injury no questions asked.
