Topic Dog Boards / General / KC reg - advice appreciated

Hi all

I'm in the process of moving house and while going through some papers yesterday I came across the papers I got from Cashie's breeder.  As he's nearly two now I'm slightly ashamed to admit that I've never got around to sending them off to the Kennel Club registering me as his owner.

What I'd like to know is whether I can still send them after this long and if I can is there really any point in doing so at this stage?  He's only a pet (sorry Cash, that sounds really dismissive ;-) ), what I mean is that I have no intention of showing him or breeding from him (just as well really as I castrated him!)

I have no concerns regarding his breeder.  We're still in contact and are on excellent terms so I can't imagine that they would ever claim he's still their dog or anything like that.  His microchip details are all mine.

The only possible problem I can foresee is that he is licensed to travel under the PETS scheme.  Does anyone think the anomaly with his KC reg could cause any problem there?

Sorry, I'm probably being a bit dense but I would really appreciate any advice from posters with more knowledge about pedigree matters.

Thanks guys

M-C

Yes, you can still transfer him to your own name at any stage. Don't worry - many people never get around to it, and it makes no difference to their lives with their pet. I can't see it mattering in the slightest about the Pet Passport either. Non-KC registered dogs travel feely so I doubt that it's a factor. :)

As JG put loads of people don't transfer their dogs into their names.  Loads of my previous puppy owners haven't so you've got nothing to worry about :d  Sign it and send it off now, it costs the same as it would have done when yu bought your dog.
