Does anyone know what the english equivelant is of european hip scores is?ie: A=?   B=?  C=? D=?
I'm thinking of using a Belgian stud dog who has a hip score of 'A' and am wondering what the english equivelant is.
Thanks
Jimbob

Here is the OFA comparison.

OFA CLASSES            BVA/KC SCORES
                                            Total Both Hips

Excellent                               0-4  no > than 3 / hip
Good                                    5-10  no > than 6 / hip
Fair                                      11-18  no extremes
Borderline                             19-25
Mild Dysplasia                        26-35
Moderate Dysplasia                 36-50
Severe Dysplasia                    51-106

Here is a web addy with abridged details of our scheme.

A-Stamp equivalent to 0-10 score under BVA/KC scheme (No sign of HD)
B-Stamp equivalent to 10-20 score under BVA/KC scheme (Transitional)
C-Stamp equivalent to 20-30 score under BVA/KC scheme (Mild HD)
D-Stamp is described as Moderate HD
E-Stamp is described as Severe HD

Hi jimbob
I have found the comparision charts to often be unacurate! HD A is the best you can get so you should be safe there but ive found things to become a bit less claer with HD B & C .
I have always asked to see copies of x-rays most scoring bodies will now send a scan copy to you if the dogs owner request it in writung. there is normally a nominal charge for this last time I had it done from the FDB in hungary it cost the equivilant of £3.
im not sure on the FCI`s stand on this but its worth asking also ask about any x-rays they have as prelimanarys as many breeders x-ray there dogs around the 12 -18 month mark as a prelim and get to keep the x-rays.
another important point is dont just ask about the stud ask about the scors of his parents as well .
good luck :)
