whenever i have reistered a litter of puppies, i usually buy 1 pedigree cert at a cost of £6.00, i have just recieved the KC documents for my new puppy Angel, and there is nowhere on the form , to order the £6.00 one , only the 5 generation for £15.00

is the offer of the £6.00 one
only for us breeders registering a litter, does anyone know ? flipping cheeky if it is .

I thought it was £10 to transfer ownership then £5 for 5 gen ped isnt it? which makes it £15 is that what you mean?
no , its actually £16

for the 5 gen pedigree !!! its transfer of ownership £10 + 5 gen pedigree £26 . i cant remember which thread it was on, but someone told the poster how they could get the pedigree for £6.00 + £10 for transfer of ownership .
The £6 is only for breeders registering their pups.

So what's the point in that? Pay £6 but only for breeders. Seems a bit of a mess all this KC malarky. I can fully understand why people don't bother registering their dogs if it's that selective in the UK!
what a weird way round it all but hey its not mass ammounts of money
its the principal though !!! and a tenner is a tenner after all !!! :)
misstyko, you obviously have to pay the £10 transfer of ownership fee, to have your new pup registered under your name, so rather than also order the 5 gen pedigree for a full total of £26 yourself, why not get in touch with the breeder of your new pup and ask them to order a £6 one via themselves as the breeders. I always do this anyway, as obviously you do yourself, it shouldn't be a problem for them to help you out. They should have ordered them in the first place.
i think many breeders do their own pedigrees, i have some that were handwritten from 20p forms from pet shops , which is what i did for my first litter !! mine are good now thanks to Brainless !! so i didnt expect the breeder to give me a £6.00 one for Angel, i just want one for reason stated above :)

If you have a handwritten one just write one out and printi it off yourself. there are pedigree templates/generators available for free on the net if you google. Just type everthing in and voila a pedigree in the font, style colour etc you choose.

The pedigrees are an additional service, and nothing to do with the actual process of registration.
A dogs registration certificate has it's name, date of birth etc, and it's parents listed and any of their health test results such as eye/hip and elbow screening.
Breeders have always written out full pedigrees of more generations than the parents, of 3, 4, 5 generations, and since the advent of word processors and computers breeders ahve been able to print out very nice ones for tehri new owners. the kenenl club have sought to capitalise on the fact that peopel like a nice certificate which they can cheaply and easily procuce from existing computer records, so now offer this service to make money.

I do know how it works. I've been breeding for 17 years but I'm just shocked at how tight-fisted the KC is! UKC do it all free of charge!

I was reffering to your comment about registering, as of course i the UK we only have one real registry so you pays :D
I had rather thought you were an overseas member from your comment, as otherwise you would of course understand the reasons behind registration.

Yeah - I am overseas but I still think it's shocking how you have to pay for a little money making scam that the KC has brought out!
But I suppose it's not that much really and if you've produced a nice healthy litter of pups and sold them for a good price then it really doesn't matter what you pay for the certificates!
but im not complaining about the £6.00 fee for a ped for a puppy ive bred, but a puppy ive bought, and want a pedigree for :)

thick question...what is UKC

The United Kennel Club (America) :D
UKC do it all free of charge!
Do they ? that isn't what their website indicates you pay to register the dog, then for the registration cert & 3 gen pedigree & the more generations the more expensive it gets plus if you make mistakes you pay to correct them Hm the UK KC do corrections for free
UKC registration fees

I've never had to pay to register any of my dogs or their litters and they've all been successfully registered. Looks like it's another case of who you know and not what you know

So you don't pay & others do ??????? Hm sounds like a dodgy bit of dealing to me

 Call it what you want. I know many people who don't pay but they've all been breeding over 12 years like myself.

Hm still sounds very odd & not quite right to me
Still they register just about any dog by the look of it & some poor mugs must be paying the fees so you can get yours for nowt
looks about the same prices as the KC !!
yea that figures !!! to make money !!! i only wanted one from the kennel club for Angel coz the one i got is hand written & not easy to read, plus the KC ones have the colours on of the family too. i use the one you sent me Barbera, & printed on embossed paper & they look great, all my new puppy owners loved them :)

Yep I buy nioce card to do mine on, though you can choose al sorts of nice paper or card to get just the effect you like.
I have never heard of a registration society who do all the registrations for free

Trip Trap - I smell a Troll too!

I know if you just add the £6 to the cheque and add a letter that you also wish to
order a 5 generation pedigree at £6 they send you one.
I changed the ownership and after ringing the KC I was told to just add the £6.
thankyou carolyn , ill try tomorrow :)
You can get the £6 one without being a breeder, just write a letter with the transfer of ownership saying you want the £6 five generation one, and they will send it you. They just very naughtly miss this option out on the reg form.
Hiya !!! i got one for £6.00 !!! thanks for your advice !!!:D :)
Well done lol :)
