Can anyone clear up what age dogs have to be to be entered for 'not for competition' ? Do they have to be four months? I have never entered a dog for this and i cant find anything in the rules and regs of an open show schedule  Thanks :)

HI Sarah,

I thought it was 4 months too but I entered my puppy as NFC at Manchester only to receive a phone call to say he was too young.  Since then I have heard it is still 6 months!  That was at a champ show at an open I don't know if it differs or not - sorry hopefully someone can confirm this for you.

Sarah, I think its four months for a same breed show, and six months for all other shows? But I could be wrong

You can only enter puppies under 6 months at sub group & single breed shows ie at a Toy or Working or Pastoral or Terrier or Gundog or Hound or Utility group show or a show for your dog's breed only whether it is a limited, open or championship show

You cannot enter an under 6 month old puppy in any all breed shows at any level unless it includes an obedience or agility show & then you have to enter the obedience or agility part as NFC. This is why you won't find anything about it in the schedule

LOL Yes Puppies younger than 4 months can be entered at Obedience/agility shows but have to be restricted to the car park & exercise areas but not breed shows(unless there is agilty etc included)

You'd best check that out with the breed club concerned, as the rule also states "with the permission" of.......... Not all breed clubs may want the NFC (4 month ) rule in place. I know most of the Beardie Club ones allow it, but I also know of some other breed clubs which do not.
