Topic Dog Boards / General / Dog bitten on walk
- By Josie [gb] Date 21.03.06 15:47 UTC
I was walking my dog on Sunday morning near my parents house.  We've been on the walk before and its very popular with dog walkers.  We were on our way back and we saw two people with three dogs, a big black one (don't know if this was a newfoundland or something similar), a Golden Retreiver and another smaller dog.   Jess (18mth old Dobe) is very good with other dogs and doesn't approach them, but will have a play if they come up to her.  These three were just walking towards us and Jess came nearer to us, when the GR rushed up to her causing Jess to yelp - we didn't think much of this at the time as she sometimes does this if the other dog gets a little too boisterous for her (bless, she's a softey!).   Well, as we were walking a little further on, I noticed she had a chunk of hair missing - not a massive amount, but enough to notice and realised the GR must have tried to take a chunk out of her - I was desperate to find the owners and let them know what their dog had done so they could either muzzle it, or keep it on the lead, but they had gone too far ahead.  Anyway, the long and short of it, is that Jess has gone out on the park today and barked at another dog and shown her teeth.  It was my boyfriend that had taken her out, so obviously, I am going from his description of what happened, but I'm really, really annoyed that this one bl&&dy dog can cause this set back with Jess.   We're going to training class tonight which will hopefully give her a bit of confidence back.  Don't really know what I want people to say, but feel better after venting my spleen. :-)
