We've got a cat who loves to scratch and claw at our 3 piece suite which has a fabric cover.  We're thinking of getting a leather one, but obviously don't want the cat clawing at it.   Has anyone else got a leather suite and a scratchy cat - does the cat scratch at the leather?

when we got our new leather ones, our two took great delight in trying to scratch their marks. Theres the odd nick here and there, but no scratches-just tiny little holes where their claws have gone in. For a while, they weren't allowed on them unless we were around to observe. As soon as they even looked like they'd scratched, we'd make a loud hissing noise, and they soon got the message.

It depends on the cat and the leather. Last year we threw out the leather couch we'd had for around 3 years as it had large holes in it from the cats (the biggest was a foot in length!). We replecaed it with a leather one with tougher leather, cats are more likely to scratch soft leather. They still scratch the new one, but not as much. If you get a nice large new scratching post (one of them to climb on as well, the bigger the better) at the same time, chances are that will be far more interesting. :)

id get a scratching post for them and spray catnip spray or feliway on it.
