Hi
I know the struggle ND has had over the months with manufacturing and supplying but I was told yesterday that they are not manufacturing at all at the moment and there is no indication of when they may recommence.
My dog has a sensitive tummy and struggles with lots of foods and is also a fussy eater too! I am therefore thinking of changing his food just in case I cant get ND over the coming weeks. Can anyone tell me what would be a good substitute as I would like to start making the change now before we run into trouble?
Im not too fussed about price but it would be good if it was fairly close to the price of ND. It would also be good if it was a food that produced a hard poo like ND does (dont want much do I?)
Thanks
Caroline
Hi have you contacted Naturediet yourself to ask if this is correct, or was it your pet store that told you.
I can't understand why they should stop manufacturing it as they have just opened a new plant to do so.
I have e mailed them so I will let you know what they say as I dont suppose I will get a reply until Monday. Its very worrying all of this as mine will not eat anything else either.

The factory was shut by the H&SE due to a fatal accident in the packaging dept :(

Daisy,
The OLD factory was shut down. The new factory is up and running.

I think it depends on which part of the country you live as to shortages. Our local PAH & Jollyes are fully stocked all flavours.

I use natures menu with my girl she also has a sensitive tum and is great on this, the ingredients are great and as 123 says it smells yummy even to me and I'm vegetarian

Hi Just curious how a product which is 61% chicken (meat is 100% protien - unless it has lots of fat through it) can give a diet of only 10% protien overall?

But meat
isn't 100% protein - even lean meat contains fat, etc. You may find
this article interesting. :)
It was when i did my Biology A level... meat (animal muscle) is 100% protein, if the manufacturer is claiming the ingredient 'chicken' and including in this statement the whole chicken, then yes there are lots of other carbs and fats included (plus other rubbish).
Really the query is when nature diet say 61% chicken - is this the rubbish (by products) left over from the human food industry? if so then i would rather feed a good quality dry food which states 23% chicken meat.
Hope that makes sense???
Sharon

I just found
this ...
Thanks all foy your suggestions. I suspected people would come back and suggest Natures Menu but not knowing much about it I thought I would check.
ND has opened a new plant and I didnt know about the fatality but I did know that they were having problems due to laying off all there staff from the old plant and then the new property not being ready thus ending up with virtually no staff at all!
I will definately invest in some NM and start making the gradual change this week.
Thanks again

>can give a diet of only 10% protien overall?<
Sharon take a look at this website. It explains how to convert >wet food protein< into a dry matter basis. You will find naturediet has a far higher protein content than 10% ;)

Hi Sharon,
Actually, raw meat is approximately 75%+ water. :-)

I usually order several cases direct from Naturediet, no probs, but when I phoned last week, they said they just had no stock, all they could offer me were 3 cases of 'seconds' (packets of 'underpacked' meat, and not even our usual chicken & tripe) for £20. Apparently demand from suppliers has exceeded what they can produce, so they didn't seem to know when they will be able to fulfil orders. If I can't get any in a couple of weeks, I'll probably go to Butchers Chicken & Tripe mix.
