Dogs that is. A friend of mine has a male dog and asked me if there is anything they can do about him spotting drops from his sheath. Apparently this happens all the time but he has only just mentioned it. It does not seem to be a lot but enough to irritate. The dogs is only 2 and seems to be in rude health. Any ideas, tips?
Thanks in advance.

Is this urine, or just a discharge, as the latter is common and normal.
Brainless can you clean dogs sheaths i know male horses have theirs cleaned, just wondering

My freind just uses baby wet wipes on her male. the green gunk and candle drips seems a common thing with boy dogs
Oh my next dog will be male, what am I letting myself in for

I have two males, and this is news to me! Should I be worried that mine
don't drip?

Hi all,
Thanks for replies. I think it is urine and my initial response was "deal with it it happens" but then began wondering if there was anyway around it. My boys don't drip but my dane did as he got older, perhaps it is just more noticeable with short hair.
Thanks again all.

None of my boys drip - I've got three!

My male dobe gets this a few times a week - I wouldn't call it a drip though as it doesn't actually drip right off, it's just a blob of gunky looking stuff

I aways thought it was dirt, dead skin cells, etc being pushed out. Usually he cleans it off himself, but sometimes if he's laying on my bed I have to point to it to make him clean it off before it ends up on my sheets :D

Not all of them are long coats.... some are smooth coats as well ;). The little brown one is about 7 weeks old puppy and yes he is really small!!

Such a cute baby.

Yes I use bellybands on my Cavalier -he's almost completely incontinent and it's saved us and him SO much hassle it's unbelievable! :) I ordered his from a US rescue, they were friendly and fast and cheap and the fact the proceeds went to rescue made me happy.

Jeff,
If it's urine and is happening 'all the time' your friend should take his dog in to the vet for a urinalysis. I had a dog that dripped (he was 2 as well) just enough that I had to spot clean after him but not so much that he was actually urinating. He ended up being incontinent and put on medication that stopped the drips. Kidney stones, bladder infections, etc. are all also a possibility.
If it's not urine, ignore me...I've never had a dog that dripped anything else. ;)

If it's urine that's leaking out it's usually a sign of an enlarged prostate but a vet needs to see the dog...anything else will probably be an over vivid imagination!

The belly bands may be a good idea - but the website  Maybe it's me, being a GOW again - but it's fingers down the throat for me!!! Sorry if I've offended anyone but honestly!!!!! Its not...... it's just not - well British  :D

D**n right, Margot :D :D :D
Daisy (GOW in training :D )

My Border Terrier does this all the time and according to my vet it is perfectly normal in boy dogs. He produced a sample (!) while having his health check and I asked about it and vet said unless it's thick and smells (yuk) then its all normal. Takes me ages to clean the suite though

I've got a 2 year old boy retriever and we get the green drips. The vet said its normal, nothing to worry about, he's just being a boy.
