My old boy has a very sore mouth so he does'nt bother eating untill alot later in the day. Can anyone advise me on something to maybe wipe round his gums to give hime some relief. The vet has given him antibiotics but thats difficult to get in him aswell. He has to eat in the mornings as he is a diabetic.

What about some nice gloopy soup? This would mean that his mouth wouldn't feel so sore, and if you can make it so that it has an attractive smell, would get some nourishment into him early in the day. I'd suggest some chicken broth maybe.

Bonjela (as used for teething babies and adult mouth ulcers) is reputed to be helpful. I couldn't say whether or not it's advised for use with diabetics, though - you would have to check with your vet.
Yes I thought of Bonjela, I might give that one a try and I'll give the soup a go but that one might be a bit more difficult as he is very stubourn (like all men!).

you could try some sloppy porridge with dog milk. Try maybe some wet food with water to mater it very sloppy until his mouth gets better.
What is it making his mouth sore is it the salt that may be in the food if it is then i would make any soup or any sloppy food from scratch and dont put any salts or anything that may sting his sore mouth
Something better than Bonjela is a liquid called , "Anbesol". I get it from Boots, ask at the counter, it's in a very small bottle. It's much more effective than the gels as because it is a liquid it soaks straight in and relieves the pain.
I used this on my daughter when she was teething - Bonjela did nothing for her.
Hope this helps - and good luck.
I'm going out in abit so I will get back armed with goodies, I'll try anything to get him eating again.
