Where do we all see the world of show Dog's

1, Will the numbers fall (like open shows)

2, Will the UK turn like the USA and more and more profession handlers

3, Are your breed(s) doing the best they can to get new people into the ring(and keep them there)  as we all know some people don't open there arms to new owners

I've been showing for over 30 years, in a very very small way, so from past experience I think that show entry numbers rise and fall in cycles. Breeds become popular, then somehow fall out of favour, then of course there are several fairly newly recognised breeds.

Certainly presentation is much more important, although not generally quite the way it is in the USA, but in another 10 years could well see a further shift that way. As for professional handlers, I actually think there are fewer now than there used to be.

As in all things, there is good and bad together, in both my breeds there are some fantastic people, some of whom have been extremely generous and kind to me. Then there are also some downright nasty people too and I just give them a wide berth.

Well i'm 27 been showing Dog's all my life (it was two dalmatians that helped me walk) and i agree with what you said in regard too show entry numbers rise and fall in cycles we seen a sharp rise in dalmatians with the 101 film (most of them were far and away from the breed standard)

Now the next thing i can talk about all day nasty people that every breed has all they do is nock everything and everyone and god help the new ones( i know if i was to go into dallys now adays i would go to one or two show and never show again) this is the thing that is killing the breeds we all can't show for ever, then what happens half the entrys that we have just now
