Topic Other Boards / Foo / scratched laminate flooring

what with all the snow ruining my sunday plans I've decided to do something constructive and do all the wee jobs in the house that need done.  One of them is disguising the scratches on the laminate flooring in the living room which is dark brown so the scratches are really obvious.
I bought crayon sticks from a well known home delivery catalogue but it just looks like I've drawn on the floor  so am looking for any tips to cover up the mess.  My next stroke of genius is going to involve a brown marker pen unless I can get any good advice from anyone on here.  thanks in advance

When I get scratches on the wooden furniture I paint a bit of woodstain onto the mark. It takes a few coats because it soaks in and disperses into the grain, but it improves it. A bit of polish afterwards helps too.

We have mostly laminate.  The cheaper laminates have not scratched but the more expensive one which is real wood laminate has scratched quite badly in places.  If it is the real wood laminate that you've got then I think you can sand these back and repolish them.  However, before attempting anymore DIY I would contact the manufacturer and ask their advice.

I don't know who made it as it was in the house when I moved in.  it looks quite light over the scratches so I'm assuming it's the cheap stuff and just has a light coating of 'wood effect colour' on it so sanding it down would make it look worse.  the scratches were all my own fault coz there was grit under the sofas and when I moved them they gouged chunks out the floor.  in future I will lift the sofas not drag them
thanks for the woodstain tip JG, when the snow eases off I'll get some woodstain and give that a shot - cheers.

Gravy browning :)

It worked wonders on mine.

 lol @ gravy browning.  How do you manage to stop the dog licking it up off the floor.  Mine licks the skirting boards to get all the dust off so she would be permanantly glued to the floor if I had gravy browning on it.
thanks for all the posts I'll get started on fixing the floor while it's too snowy and wet to go anywhere.
